Inspire | Group Study

Watch the short clips below, and answer the questions associated with each.  You can do this alone - but it's always more fun with a group of friends!

Be sure to read/study the scriptures in each section.  God's word is the standard by which we measure all our thoughts and ideas.

1 | i believe in you

It's a special feeling when you know that someone believes in you.  Someone is rooting for you.  Someone is looking for the gold in your life.

Have you had someone like that?  Perhaps a mentor, a teacher, or a parent.  Have you had someone believe in you, even when you didn't?  What does it feel like?

2 | fighting for position

Jesus wasn't impressed when his disciples twice argued about which of them was the greatest.  God gives different gifts to different people.  Are some greater in the kingdom because they possess certain gifts?

Read the scriptures below.  What do Jesus and Peter think about who is the greatest?  What do they say about using our gifts?  Can you think of any other scriptures that support this?

scripture: Mark 9:33-35, Luke 22:24-27, 1 Peter 4:10

3 | dealing with criticism

We've all had it happen.  Somebody catches us off guard with a criticism about our clothes, our actions, our personality.  Some people are gifted at criticizing the things we are the most insecure about.  Sometimes it's accurate, sometimes it's not.

How do you react when someone criticizes you?  How SHOULD you react?

scripture: Proverbs 15:31, 2 Timothy 2:23-25, Psalm 139:23-24

4 | stacy

Encouraging others, inspiring others, pushing one another on towards good works.  Ask anyone: How does it feel to help other people?  To help someone up that needs it?  They will all tell you that it's a great feeling.  Spiritually, we also know that it produces a reward in heaven.

How can we do more encouraging, uplifting, inspiring?

scripture: 1 Thessalonians 5:11, Hebrews 10:24-25, Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
