Top 5%  Group Study

Watch the short clips below, and answer the questions associated with each.  You can do this alone - but it's always more fun with a group of friends!

Be sure to read/study the scriptures in each section.  God's word is the standard by which we measure all our thoughts and ideas.

1 | camping

Being in nature, fishing and hiking is like heaven on Earth for some.  For others, camping sounds like a horrible way to spend a weekend.
How about you?  Love it or hate it?
Any great camping stories?

2 | juggling

Sometimes life can feel like a juggling act.  Work, faith, family, friends and health are 5 of the usual suspects.  Pastor Jim points out that some of those things are more fragile than others.  Some may not bounce back if they are dropped.

How do you do it?  How do you keep all those balls in the air?  Have you ever dropped one?

scripture: Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, Philippians 4:10-13, 1 Timothy 5:8

3 | the barn

Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.  Christians like quoting this scripture because it's a reminder of what is really important in light of eternity.

But how does this actually work?  Will God look at what money we used, dollar for dollar to make a judgement on where our heart is?  Is it ok for a Christian to have savings?  A retirement plan?  How do we judge where our own treasure/hearts are today?

scripture: Luke 12:13-34, Hebrews 13:5, Proverbs 10:4-5, 1 Corinthians 16:2, Mark 10:21

4 | top 5%

Pastor Jim relates that 5% of what we do is unique to us.  No one else can take our place.  God has given each of us an area of influence that no one else can reach.  For instance, Pastor Jim is the only one who can influence his son as a father.

What is in your 5%?  How much of your time/energy should be focused on this 5%?

scripture: Matthew 5:13-16, 1 Corinthians 11:1
