5% part 3 | Group Study

Watch the short clips below, and answer the questions associated with each.  You can do this alone - but it's always more fun with a group of friends!

Be sure to read/study the scriptures in each section.  God's word is the standard by which we measure all our thoughts and ideas.

1 | misunderstandings

Even though we're all made in the image of our Father - we don't all think the same!  Language, culture, political differences, and upbringing can all provide opportunity for misunderstandings.

Can you think of a time when you had a humorous misunderstanding with someone?

scripture: John 3:3-4

2 | god's thoughts

God's thoughts and ways can sometimes seem inconsistent or run counter to human wisdom.

What are some of the lessons you've learned about how God thinks differently than you do?
What is one thing God does or says that you still haven't figured out?

scripture: Isaiah 55:8-9, James 1:2-3

3 | expectation in relationship (don't touch the stove)

Every relationship has expectations.  Husbands and wives, brothers and sisters, friends, coworkers.  There are always a few things we should do (or not do) to keep the relationship good.

The same is true of our relationship with God.  It's true that he'll never give up on us, but why do we still sabotage the relationship in order to touch the stove?

scripture: Romans 3:23, Genesis 4:4-7, Galatians 5:19-21

4 | the father's love

God loves us, even if we don't want it.  God loves us, even if we don't feel it.

It's common for people to say: If God loved me, he wouldn't let THIS happen to me.  How do we handle that statement?  Have you ever felt that way yourself?  How did you get through it?

scripture: Matthew 6:26, Romans 8:15, 1 John 3:1
